St. John's Addition and Remodel
Extensive additions and remodeling gave this simple 1940’s home a spacious kitchen, a master suite, and an upstairs view of the beautiful park across the street. The couple described that they live in their kitchen so it became the heart of the home. Where a cramped kitchen had been the access to the back door, garage, and basement, a welcoming sunlit space for cooking, eating, circulation, and enjoying the view now stands. The addition was strategically arranged to preserve a large Western Redcedar, which defines the back yard and shades the generous back porch from western sun. The attic was converted to a master bedroom and bath with a new dormer and stair. The new front porch and dormer transformed the no-frills structure in to a bungalow. Eaves were extended throughout the house to complete the effect.
